Facelifted Citroen e-Berlingo gets face and tech from £23k e-C3
Citroen’s refreshed seven-seater MPV gets a funky new look, the latest tech and even more range
Following the Peugeot E-Rifter’s recent nip-and-tuck, Citroen’s closely related e-Berlingo has also facelifted for 2024 with updated styling and technology taken straight from the brand’s newly-revealed e-C3 supermini.
As you can see, updated versions of the e-Berlingo seven-seater look quite a bit different to the outgoing model. This is thanks to a new face, inspired by the recently-revealed £23k Citroen e-C3 hatchback; the e-Berlingo gets that car’s angular three-point headlight design, as well as Citroen’s updated chevron logo. The old e-Berlingo’s side ‘Airbumps’ have now been swapped for a more traditional plastic trim piece, whilst at the rear, the brand’s emblem has been replaced by ‘CITROEN’ script on the left-hand side of the bootlid.
Moving inside, the e-C3 influence continues with the e-Berlingo’s new slightly squared-off steering wheel which, once again, features Citroen’s new badge. Sitting on top of the dashboard is an all-new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that can be configured using widgets, optioned with built-in sat nav and is complemented by a new, fully-digital 10-inch instrument cluster. Entry-level cars get a slightly less impressive black-and-white digital gauges, which look like they’ve been lifted from an alarm clock radio.
Citroen says the facelifted e-Berlingo is available with up to 18 driver assistance systems, with a reversing camera coming as standard on all models. A wireless smartphone charger now sits below the main infotainment screen - although we find it odd that in 2024, the updated e-Berlingo still features old-school USB-A ports, rather than the new USB-C variety.
As is the case with its Peugeot and Vauxhall sister cars, the updated Citroen e-Berlingo still uses the old model’s 134bhp electric motor. However, thanks to several technical updates and a new larger 54kWh battery, range is now boosted to a maximum of 198 miles – up from the old car’s 174-mile range. To preserve charge, e-Berlingo drivers can boost the effectiveness of the regenerative braking system via the paddles on the back of the steering wheel, while a heat pump can also be specified at an extra cost.
UK pricing and specifications for the facelifted Citroen e-Berlingo are yet to be revealed, but you can expect a minor uplift over the current car’s £31,225 starting price when it goes on sale in the spring. While the Citroen Berlingo will only be available in electric form in mainland Europe, Citroen has told us that petrol models will be offered alongside the plug-in e-Berlingo in the UK from launch.
