Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV gets new trim levels and revised specification
Top-selling Mitsubishi plug-in hybrid model's line-up overhauled
Mitsubishi has introduced a new range of six trim levels and revised standard equipment for the Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid SUV, as well as upgrading the car's seats and infotainment system.
The range now kicks off at £35,455 for the entry-level Verve specification, which includes DAB radio, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, keyless operation, rear parking sensors, a rear spoiler, cruise control, power-folding door mirrors and LED daytime running lights.
Headlamp washers, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and a programmable climate control system, which can warm or cool the car in advance of a journey, complete the suite of standard kit.
Next up is the £36,455 Design trim, which adds 18-inch alloy wheels, an eight-inch Smartphone Line Display Audio (SDA) infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and an integrated reversing camera display. The £38,555 Dynamic brings leather upholstery, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, black headlining, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
At the top of the range is the Outlander PHEV Exceed, priced from £40,955, which boasts integrated TomTom sat nav, diamond-quilted leather, LED headlights with LED high-beams, LED front foglights, a 360-degree camera, a heated steering wheel, a powered tailgate and twin rear USB sockets.
There are also 'Safety' variants of the Dynamic and Exceed, priced at £41,055 and £43,455 respectively. They add a plethora of active safety systems, including forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and automatic high-beam headlights, plus front and rear parking sensors.
Inside, the car's seats have been upgraded and recontoured for better comfort, with powered lumbar support now standard on all versions. There have also been tweaks to the dashboard design to accomodate a larger infotainment screen and new climate control switches.
On the technical side, the Outlander PHEV is unchanged, with the same petrol-electric drivetrain as before delivering a 28-mile electric range, 46g/km CO2 emissions and fuel economy of up to 139.7mpg in official testing.
