Smart unveils Brabus-finished version of EQ ForTwo electric coupe

The Racing Green Edition of the electric city car is available to order now, with prices starting from £25,495 after the plug-in car grant

This is the Racing Green Edition of the Smart EQ ForTwo Coupe: a limited-run version of the ultra-compact electric city car, which has received a plethora of upgrades from German tuning company Brabus.

Some of the Racing Green Edition features include LED headlights, 16-inch Brabus alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof and its exclusive Racing Green metallic paint.

Inside, as opposed to the standard fabric upholstery in the standard EQ ForTwo, the Racing Green Edition gets hand-finished cognac Nappa leather seats and upholstery, as well as aluminum Brabus sport pedals, handbrake and door stills, plus a Brabus gearstick.

Carbon-fibre-like trim surrounds the eight-inch central infotainment touchscreen, which comes as standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Although this is a ‘Brabus-finished’ version of the ForTwo, there’s no power difference between the Racing Green Edition and the standard car. That means it still produces just 81bhp from its electric motor, which powers the rear wheels.

The Racing Edition variant of the EQ ForTwo Coupe does have a shorter range than the standard car, though; down from 83 miles to around 70 miles. A 22kW on-board charger means you can recharge the 17.6kWh battery from 10-80% in under 40 minutes from most public charging points.

The Smart EQ ForTwo Coupe Racing Green Edition is on-sale for a limited time only, with prices starting from £25,495 after the UK government’s £2,500 plug-in car grant (PiCG) – that’s over £6,000 more than the entry-level Premium version.

This isn’t the first time Brabus has turned its hand to the ForTwo, having previously created the Ultimate E Shadow Edition and the 92R – both heavily modified versions of the ForTwo Cabrio. There’s also a Brabus line trim level of the standard Smart ForTwo.
