Peugeot e-2008 facelift is now on sale with more electric range

The facelifted Peugeot e-2008 is now on sale, with prices starting from £36,350. Revealed earlier in 2023, the new car sports a revised exterior design, updated technology and – perhaps most importantly – a bigger battery for a longer electric range.

As before, buyers can choose from three main trim levels: Active, Allure and GT. The Active now gets a 10-inch touchscreen as standard, as well as 16-inch alloy wheels and rear parking sensors. 

For an extra £2,000, Allure spec adds a larger 10-inch digital instrument cluster, front parking sensors and larger 17-inch alloys. GT starts from £40,550 and boasts full-LED headlights, a 3D effect for the instrument cluster, a leather GT-branded steering wheel and a reversing camera.

Finally, there is the limited-run First Edition model which starts from £41,600. This comes fully-loaded with equipment such as Alcantara upholstery, a heated and massaging driver’s seat, and built-in sat nav. The First Edition is only available in the two new colours – Selenium Grey and Okenite White.

The most noticeable visual change for the facelift is the e-2008’s new front-end design, which now features three vertical ‘lion’s claw’ LED daytime running lights. The front grille now also displays Peugeot’s new shield-like emblem and now flows directly into the headlights.

Speaking of Peugeot’s new logo, this is curiously absent from the rear of the new e-2008; in its place there’s a much larger font for the “PEUGEOT '' script emblazoned across the bootlid. All of this is topped-off by a tweaked set of LED taillights, as well as new alloy wheel designs that range from 16-18 inches in diameter.

On the inside, not a huge amount has changed; the e-2008 already has one of the most futuristic-feeling cabins in its class. As mentioned, all cars now come with the larger 10-inch touchscreen as standard, while Peugeot’s virtual cockpit gets a refashioned look.

For some buyers, the biggest draw for the facelifted Peugeot e-2008 will be its larger battery, which has increased in capacity from 50kWh to 54kW. This is the same battery pack that’s fitted to the new Jeep Avenger, with the Peugeot’s range boosted to a maximum of 252 miles (WLTP) from the outgoing model’s 214-mile official figure.

Power also sees a hike thanks to a new 154bhp electric motor; Peugeot is yet to release any performance figures, but expect the facelifted car’s 0-62mph time to match its predecessor’s due to the added weight of the larger battery. Maximum DC rapid charging speeds are unchanged at 100kW, meaning a 0-80% charge is possible in as little as 30 minutes.

The launch of the facelifted e-2008 is likely to be soon followed by an updated version of the e-208 supermini, as well as the Vauxhall Corsa Electric with which the Peugeot SUV shares many of its parts. The brand is also due to launch its first bespoke electric car later this year in the form of the e-3008 SUV, which will get an all-new version of the Peugeot’s i-Cockpit interior.
