New 2022 Kia XCeed hybrid crossover: prices of facelifted car revealed

Kia XCeed PHEV comes in one trim level and starts from £32,595

Kia XCeed 2022

The facelifted Kia XCeed, including the plug-in hybrid version, is now available to order. Prices start from £22,995 for the base-spec petrol, while the Kia XCeed PHEV is only offered in a higher trim level and costs £32,595 before any options. First UK deliveries are expected in late autumn.

It’s an important car for Kia, accounting for one in 10 of the brand’s UK sales. Half of all Ceeds sold are the XCeeds. Owners have told us they are delighted with their purchases; the XCeed came top in our Driver Power buyer satisfaction survey.

There are styling and tech upgrades, plus the introduction of a new GT-Line S trim that replaces the previous ‘4’ range-topper. Engine choices are either a 1.5-litre turbo petrol or a plug-in hybrid comprising a 1.6-litre engine and an electric motor. A mild-hybrid diesel engine and a smaller petrol engine were mooted to join the line-up, and these may come at a later date.

Kia has confirmed that UK buyers will only be able to pick the XCeed PHEV in mid-range ‘3’ spec. This version gets a lot of standard equipment, including heated front seats, two-zone air conditioning, a rear-view camera, keyless start and rain-sensing wipers. Specific to the PHEV model, you also get adaptive cruise control, drive modes, a closed grille and exclusive alloy wheels.

According to Kia’s European design vice-president Gregory Guillaume, the XCeed’s updated styling “further highlights its sporty, urban and adventurous nature”. Notable exterior features on the facelifted car include redesigned LED headlamps and new looks for the grille, front bumper and air intakes.

The front foglamps are integrated with the headlights, leaving room for ‘air curtains’ that direct air around the wheels. At the rear, there’s a new diffuser with a gloss-black skid plate, slim LED tail-lamps with a distinctive light signature and new creased lines that give the car a wider-looking and more stable posture than before. The only body panels the XCeed has in common with the regular Ceed hatchback are its front doors.

Inside, there’s a ‘floating’ infotainment touchscreen with new graphic themes, along with touch-sensitive buttons, dials and switches for the ventilation and audio volume. There’s also satin-chrome dashboard trim and a choice of cloth, suede, synthetic leather or genuine leather seat upholstery. The top-end infotainment system has a 10.25-inch display, which is what’s fitted in the PHEV.

A 12.3-inch ‘Supervision’ digital driver’s display is also available as an option, incorporating new graphic themes to go with the car’s ‘Eco’, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’ driving modes, as well as sharply rendered dials, navigation instructions, audio information, trip information, diagnostic alerts and pop-up notifications. The Spirit Green paint colour shown in our pictures is a new option, too.
